Australian Fire & Rescue NSW Commissioner Greg Mullins announces retirement

The longest serving NSW urban fire chief in more than 100 years is set to retire, with Greg Mullins pulling the pin on his professional career which has spanned almost 40 years – in January 2017. Mr Mullins said he was most proud of overseeing an overhaul of the organisation’s culture, including inclusion and diversity.

Mr Mullins – who took up the role in 2003 – said it was time to hand over the reins now the last two items on his “to do” list – a new head office and training academy – were underway.

Mr Mullins started his firefighting stint as a volunteer, spent a decade as an elected union official, and served as both chief fire officer and chief executive officer for the past 13 years.
