Singapore helps out India after the Chennai floods
The Singapore’s Corporate Citizen Foundation (CCF) sent three teams to India to assist in recovery after the devastating floods in Chennai, the teams arrived home on the 11th Dec. after an intensive tour of duty.
The floods killed over 350 people and where caused by heavy monsoon rains across Tamil nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The team’s main objective revolved around providing clean water to many of the 1.8 million people displaced during these floods.
CCF is a private-sector initiative to pool together corporate assets to help vulnerable communities in Asia. The CCF’s Swift Emergency Evaluation Deployment (SEED) program helps to secure early access and assistance to disaster-affected areas. SEED’s pioneer partners include Mediacorp, ST Aerospace, Golden Season and HSL Constructor.
