Woman on the second story urged to jump from burning Bondi apartment

In the Sydney beach side suburb of Bondi, a women was urged to jump from a second story window when fire broke out in a block of apartments yesterday. Although not in immediate danger the crowd below found some old mattresses and placed them on the ground below her, then proceeded to encourage her to jump. The woman refuses to budge, as another man tries to coax her down. “Come on, sweetheart, jump!” a man could be heard saying.

Firefighters from NSW fire and rescue arrived on scene within minutes of the call being received and easily rescued the women using a 9 metre ladder. The officer in charge said there was more danger of injury from the jump than the fire at the time they arrived
