Sixty-four terrified passengers were left hanging 30 metres in the air, face down for up to two hours after a roller coaster made an emergency stop at Universal Studios Japan last Tuesday (3rd May) at around 4.45 pm
The amusement park said the Flying Dinosaur roller-coaster’s two carriages stalled midway through the 1,100-metre ride, with riders suspended in the air.
Osaka park was packed with holidaymakers during Japan’s “Golden Week” series of holidays, the Park said all 64 riders were evacuated safely. The last passenger had to wait two hours before being brought down. All the riders were evacuated safely, with no injuries reported, according to a park spokesman.
The ride resumed operation after repairs and safety checks.
The park apologised and said the problem was caused by a motor-regulating device on the rails.
