We’ve made it to April and here in the UK, the vaccine rollout has been hugely successful so far. We are certainly not out of the woods yet and COVID-19 will continue to affect all of our lives however there is certainly light at the end of the tunnel.

As always our Fire Professionals need to be ready, no matter what, and so in this issue of Asia Pacific Fire magazine, we have articles looking at the Use of foam for firefighting in tank farms of the oil and petrochemical industry – part 1. Tank farm fires in the oil and petrochemical industry do not occur often. When they do happen it is usually with devastating consequences and negative publicity. This article looks at typical incident scenarios and presents foam as the most suitable extinguishing agent.

We also look at being Less than 5 months until AFAC21; Cutting-edge design puts fires out faster; Groundbreaking technology delivers rapid flood forecasting in real-time and how OroraTech has developed the first global wildfire intelligence service.

Other articles of specific interest include How to ensure intrinsically safe inspection; A new Black Summer-response research programme; Energy storage systems: lessons learned on fire safety design and as always much, much more.

We sincerely hope you enjoy reading Asia Pacific Fire magazine. If you have any comments or questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
