Asia Pacific Fire Magazines editor Neil Bibby visits Hong Kong and China
Last week I visited Hong Kong to look over the new Hong Kong Fire and Ambulance Services Academy. A full day at this magnificent establishment was not enough to give it justice, a combination of traditional training tools and some of the most advanced simulation in the world made this long-awaited fire service dream a reality. The simulations and props covered everything from basic firefighting to swift water rescue, the standout props included aircraft, ships, high-rise and domestic props. I will be making a feature of this facility in upcoming editions of the magazine.
While in Asia I attended and spoke at the China (Kunming) Southeast Asia & South Asia Safety and Emergency Rescue Technology Expo. The expo and conference was well attended with over 500 attendees and 300 Exhibitors. Speakers came from all over the world and discussed topics from hazmat to high-rise. Many of the exhibitors had new and innovative products to demonstrate, including rapid response motorbikes with an associated CAF system. I will have a longer report in future issues of the magazine and ask that you consider the 7th China (Guangzhou) International Fire Safety Expo which will happen from the 13th to the 15th June 2017.
