DC-10 Prepares for Australian Fire Season

Throughout September 10 Tanker Air Carrier, based in Albuquerque New Mexico, has been preparing Tanker 910 for the upcoming bushfire season in New South Wales. Known as Southern Belle by Australian firefighters, the DC-10 will be helping to provide air support for Australian fires out of RAAF Richmond for a second consecutive year.

Arrival in Australia for the DC-10 is expected to be on the 30th of October, with the contract beginning on the 1st of November. Southern Belle, which carries a retardant load of 44,000 liters, arrives back in Australia after a busy fire season in North America, where it flew 240 missions between April and September.
