Film distributor Oscilloscope is releasing a new film called SILO on 7 May, and you can view the trailer today. It’s a powerful drama about a teenager who becomes trapped inside a grain silo, and how his town bands together to save him. It’s very unlike most films about (or for) Middle America, as it’s not heavy-handed, religious, or political – it’s just good cinema about good people.
The most amazing part about all of this is that Oscilloscope and the filmmakers are giving a portion of the film’s proceeds to The National Fallen Firefighters Association, directly benefiting the amazing people this movie is about.
The movie stars some great names, including Jack DiFalco (Daredevil, The OA), Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick, Assassination Nation), and Jeremy Holm (House of Cards, The Ranger). It’s directed by Marshall Burnette, based on his acclaimed, Tribeca-selected documentary short of the same name.

Inspired by true events, SILO follows a harrowing day in an American farm town. Disaster strikes when teenage Cody becomes the victim of a grain entrapment accident. Family, neighbours, and first responders must put aside their differences to rescue him from drowning in the 50ft-tall silo where corn quickly turns to quicksand.
Shedding light on an issue plaguing rural America, SILO shows how dangerous modern farming can be, while also highlighting the ways in which communities band together to look after one another.
A portion of the proceeds from SILO support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
