Message from Sarah Adamson – Angloco
As you will be aware with the deepening crisis in Ukraine, FireAid as a charity has been asked by the State Emergency Services for Ukraine to provide support for their firefighters.
The Fire Industry Association have a close link to FireAid as their nominated charity and were keen to support efforts. On this project, the FIA, through the liaison management of Angloco, have been asked to provide the connection between wider industry and the charity to support the small, dedicated Fire Aid team.
We have been asked to understand what equipment is immediately available. FireAid have a history of support for the Ukrainian firefighters and are actively developing a route for aid to reach areas in most need and are connected with the FCO for this project.
At this stage the charity is actively seeking donations of equipment. In particular they are interested in donations of:
- 70mm hose and 45mm hose and branches
- 10m Ladders
- Thermal imaging cameras
- Breathing Apparatus
- Firefighting PPE including helmets and boots.
Any quantity of these would be useful.
I have a complete list of the items the Ukraine SES are seeking. As we reach the point that the donations of these products are exhausted, we are beginning to compile a list of availability of the specifically requested items, and cost to secure these items in volumes stated. We are compiling a list of quantities available to be dispatched within the next two weeks, and cost per item should the ability to explore funding options for this arise.
So now, it is over to us as an Industry to support as much as is appropriate for us and your companies. If you have any of the items on the list you would like to donate, or indeed for sale, please send me details as soon as possible, and I will collate these. Please also share with your networks and friends anyone who might be able to help.
