Floods in Vietnam kill 24 with many missing

Typhoon Sarika has left devastation in the Philippines and now impacts on Vietnams Quang Binh province. Twenty-four people have been reported dead with many missing. The heavy rain associated with the Typhoon has seen 90cm fall in a very short time submerging 125,000 homes and displacing half a million people.

Sarika has also damaged large areas of agriculture and destroyed aquiculture farms. Many reservoirs in the country were also at risk of bursting at any time due to rising waters, State-run VTV warned viewers.

A second Typhoon Karika, blew into Aurora province early Sunday and barrelled fast through heavily-populated agricultural provinces with sustained winds of 130 Km per hour and gusts of 220 kph.
