Government steps up flood response.……in Thailand
At the start of our flood season let’s have a quick look how others prepare.
The Thai Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) knows, as we all do, that preventing and quickly dealing with floods can save a lot of money, limits business disruption and personal suffering.
And the Government acted upon this knowledge..
Last month the DDPM took delivery of 54 Hytrans mobile water transport systems; each can pump out an average Australian backyard swimming pool in less than a minute and transport this floodwater over many kilometres.
A set includes a Hytrans HS150 submersible pump, a hose container and hose recovering unit, 2000 m of hoses & fittings with a 150mm / 6″ diameter.
Each set is further equipped with three flood pumps; when connected to the HS150 power pack and 300mm flood hoses, they de-water up to 50,000 lpm.
In total Thailand now has 80 Hytrans units which have been successfully used in floods and……to fight large fires.
