Heavy rain doesn’t stop a large warehouse fire in Sydney.

Despite one of the heaviest downpours in Sydney for many years a large warehouse fire in the western suburbs added to what was a very busy time for the fire service.

The two-storey warehouse, with a foot print of approx. 2500sqm is believed to be used as a storage facility for soft toys. The warehouse suffered major structural damage with the roof and some walls collapsing.

The fire occurred around midnight and most of the crews attending had been out all day attending to storm damaged building. This topped off a hectic day said a local firefighter.

When firefighters arrived flame were through the roof making it too dangerous for any internal attack, the new firefighting robot was deployed to assist.

At one point during the day 95% of the Sydney fire and rescue service were out attending emergencies.
