One of the largest hospitals in East India, Sum Ultimate Medicare Bhubaneswar, has completed the development of its extensive ten-acre, nine-storey facility. To help protect staff and patients, the state-of-the-art quaternary care hospital turned to leading life safety manufacturer, Hochiki, for a range of ultra-reliable life safety products.
Situated in Odisha, East India, the Sum Ultimate Medicare Bhubaneswar facility is the first of its kind in the area, and was created with the primary aim of addressing capacity, quality, and wait-time issues for care in the region.
The giant hospital offers patients a one-stop, multi-specialty facility, and therefore needed to feature high-quality, third-party-accredited life safety solutions that would suit the diverse range of environments within its buildings, protecting the patients and occupants across the premises.
Taking this into consideration, the installers, Johnson Controls India, chose to specify ultra-reliable solutions from global manufacturer, Hochiki. They opted for the manufacturer’s FireNET control panels which combine the very latest hardware and software to produce a powerful, sophisticated and user-friendly control and indication system. In addition, a range of associated FireNET and HFP fire detection products from Hochiki were also installed because of the ranges’ wealth of benefits and collective ability to perform to the highest UL, EN and FM international standards.
Intelligent solutions
The foundation of the FireNET analogue addressable system is the FireNET control panel itself, which is supported by a high integrity digital communications link, Digital Communication Protocol (DCP) – enabling robust intelligent communication with the other analogue addressable products in the facility.
Through the use of interrupts, the DCP provides end-users with a rapid response in the event of a fire. The advanced software controls within the panel include features such as variable volumes and tones, allowing the systems to be tailored to suit different environments in the hospital and achieve optimum performance.
Featuring a high-performance chamber for adjustable sensitivity settings, the installed detectors, part of Hochiki’s HFP range, offer increased false alarm reduction – ensuring the hospital does not face any unnecessary disruptions to services.
Better support, reliable technology
Rohit Harjani, Country Manager, at Hochiki commented: “We have a long-standing presence in India stretching back over 35 years, backed by more than a century of Japanese expertise, meaning we are very familiar with the market as well as the international standards required to ensure the highest levels of safety in healthcare environments.
“The hospital needed the best available life safety solutions for the entire facility – from the lobbies and corridors right through to the consulting rooms and offices. The versatility of our FireNET range was perfect for this project, and we are pleased that we were able to provide a comprehensive selection of solutions to meet the varying requirements across the premises.”
Dr. Swetapadma Dash, Sum Ultimate Medicare said: “When choosing life safety solutions for the hospital, Hochiki products were the preferred solution presented to us by the Johnson Controls and we couldn’t be happier with their recommendation. The FireNET control panel works seamlessly with the LPCB approved Hochiki EN range of HFP detectors, installed across our hospital. The third-party accreditation gives us assurance in the reliability of the products and we’re very pleased with the technical support we have been given by the Hochiki team. Hochiki’s technical staff are always on hand to provide assistance over the phone or in-person – resolving any queries we have quickly and efficiently.”
