Natural gas pipeline explosion kills eight in China

On July 2nd at least 8 people where killed and 35 injured in a natural gas pipeline explosion in the southwestern Chinese province of Guizhou.

It was reported that those injured, including four in serious condition, were taken to hospital.

The pipeline, operated by the state-owned oil giant China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) sprang a leak after it was crushed by a landslide triggered by heavy rains, Xinhua reported

The accident occurred on Sunday morning in the city of Shazi. People living in the area were evacuated.
