Volvo Group Australia’s latest state-of-the-art emergency vehicle – the Volvo FMX 4X2 – has visited Canberra, Melbourne, Ballarat and Perth and will visit Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane as part of a national roadshow demonstrating Australian engineering innovation and manufacturing excellence.
Volvo Group Australia State and Federal Sales Vice President Jon McLean said the new Volvo FMX 4X2 was the toughest emergency vehicle the company had ever created.
“This vehicle prioritises safety with a new design that anticipates the most gruelling and dangerous situations faced by emergency services,” he said.
Mr McLean said Australia’s vast landscape and diverse terrain posed significant challenges in an emergency.
“Australia has some of the harshest driving conditions in the world, particularly where our emergency services are involved, and we know that when a Volvo truck is designed to work here, it can work anywhere. The demands placed upon our emergency services teams are extreme and their ability to perform effectively and safely is critical when it comes to saving lives and property,” he said.
“Our first responders need the best equipment possible to do their jobs and I’m proud to say the response that we’ve received from the authorities and body builders to the new Volvo FMX 4X2 has been fantastic. Emergency services are a vital part of the Australian transport industry and this product is a game changer.”
The Volvo FMX 4X2 is equipped with Volvo’s innovative safety systems and technologies that take safety to the next level, such as the automatic emergency braking, energy absorbing safety cab and Volvo Dynamic Steering.
The roadshow, which has already travelled to Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Ballarat, Canberra, over the last few months, has given Volvo Group Australia the opportunity to demonstrate the potential of this truck under full load conditions.
“As a local manufacturer, we are constantly improving our products to respond to local need,” Mr McLean said. “In the Volvo FMX 4X2, we have delivered a product that will make a huge difference in this vital segment of the Australian transport industry. The demanding conditions require constant innovation to ensure our emergency services can respond to challenges faster, more safely and more effectively.”
As the largest Australian automotive manufacturer, Volvo Group Australia can customise the design of each truck around transmission and horsepower, so it meets the needs of difficult fire conditions we face as a country
The new Volvo FMX 4X2 is testament to Volvo Trucks’ engineering and manufacturing ingenuity, which will help emergency service providers respond to the challenges they face every day.
