Trelleborg Industrial Solutions launches the Nova lifting bag that has a pressure of 15 bar, the highest of any lifting bag on the market. Cocreated with firefighters, it provides an exceptional lifting capacity of up to 100 tons.
Marko Bratina, R&D manager at the Trelleborg facility in Slovenija where the lifting bags are developed and manufactured, says: ‘The incomparable high pressure, stability and lifting capacity of the Nova lifting bag means that first responders can deliver a faster and more efficient response in any rescue scenario. In situations when every second counts; that can be the difference between life and death.
‘As the lifting bag system was cocreated with firefighters, one of the major users of lifting bags, the system reflects their needs. For instance, the ergonomic controller design recognizes that responders wear heavy gloves, so we’ve set outlet couplings as well apart as possible, made levers large and flat and incorporated dials that are easy to read even in the dark.’
The Nova lifting bag is compliant with EN 13731:2007, the European Standard for lifting bag systems, and has a superior pressure capability of 15 bar. The bag’s surface is non-slip, giving it better grip and stability. Being extremely versatile in any type of rescue, it can spread, fix, push or lift obstacles. Aided by an interlocking system and visible centre marking, multiple lifting bags can effectively and safely combine into a stable unit.
To make the lifting bag system robust, heat resistant and easier to handle, the compressed air hose, which conforms to EN ISO 2398, is made of rubber rather than plastic and the inflation connector is positioned so that there is less chance of connector damage. Integrated handles, reflective markings on the lifting bag and its cone shape allow accurate and quick insertion of the bag under or beside a load.
Trelleborg will showcase the Nova lifting bag as part of a range of recovery and rescue products and solutions on display at FDIC International 2022 in Indianapolis, Indiana, US, from 25 to 30 April 2022.
