Two separate bus crashes in two days, killing one and injuring 20 on Malaysian expressway

On the 6th of December, one passenger was killed, and fourteen other people were injured after a Five Stars express bus travelling from Singapore was involved in a collision with two lorries on Malaysia’s North-South Expressway near Gopeng, Perak. A total of 11 bus passengers, including a 3-year-old girl, were taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment. The collision, which involved the double-decker bus, a container lorry and another lorry transporting paper, happened on Wednesday (Dec 6) at around 5.45am, according to the police.

Then on the 7th of December, six people were injured when a double-decker express bus was involved in an accident with a trailer on the North-South Expressway near the Sungai Perak Rest and Service Area, Kuala Kangsar early in the morning. A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the injured victims comprised five passengers and the bus driver. He said the department received a call at about 3.44am before a team each from the Kuala Kangsar and Meru Raya stations rushed to the location.

Police are investigating the cause of both accidents.
