Tyco Fire Protection Products attended the DCD Jakarta Conference held on 6th April 2017 at Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan. The conference themed ‘IT Transformation and Hybrid Architecture’ was well-attended by over 600 professionals in the data center industry.
With this golden opportunity to engage with the data center industry leaders in this region, Jan Johansson, Director of Business Development in Asia Pacific and Middle East, held a 40-minute thought leadership session, on the impact of high levels of noise on data center HDDs, which can be caused by noise vibrations emanating from the discharge of inert gas fire extinguishing systems. Jan also presented the Tyco Acoustic Solution that has been developed by in conjunction Michigan Technical University to solve this problem. Various risk mitigation methods were discussed and sound comparisons between a regular nozzle and the NEW Acoustic Nozzle sparked further interest on this subject.
The booming data center industry in Indonesia calls for greater education and increased considerations in the fire protection solutions for the infrastructure. The Acoustic Nozzle, together with a new Acoustic Calculator aims to help users achieve an acceptable noise level based on various factors such as size of room, flooring and wall materials, etc.
